Review: Train to Busan 2 (2020)

My rating: 4

I consider Train to Busan one of the best zombie horror film, thus the disappointment while watching the second part was huge. Train to Busan 2 is more of an action film. Despite that it seems that it takes characters forever to make a decision or move away when they should. It just has way too many plot holes for me to enjoy, even though when the action scenes of the film were going on, it did not seem that bad.

So to speak though, the film seems a bit familiar to the not-so-good episodes of The Walking Dead. The focus on people being the evil in the postapocalyptic world is not working in this case though, there is simply not enough time to dive deep enough into the evil nature of the said characters.

From the visual point of view, zombies are yet again portrayed very well. But we do not get to see much of them, as majority of action happens either when fighting humans or when the protagonists are in a car. Car chasing scenes were done with special effects that were not carried out well and I felt like they were taken straight outta GTA.

Overall I believe the major issue with this film is the lack of horror elements, and that also includes the film failing to elicite major negative feelings of fear or disgust while also failing when it comes to developing a certain horror-specific tension.

SOMETHING I THINK ABOUT

The major problems I saw was people getting overly emotional, not leaving the place when they should and at the same time every single enemy waited with their attack. The crying scenes were also way too cringy (as much as I hate to use the word).

And how the hell did zombies not hear the helicopter?
