Review: Train to Busan (2016)

My rating: 9

One of the best zombie horror films of all times, even after rewatching it many times.

Train to Busan will simply have your full attention. Great action, great variety of well written characters. I usually have a problem with latest zombie films because they are always the same cliche with bad costumes and even worse plot development. However, Train to Busan is a bit different, working quite well with the setting and small spaces within the train. The film also moves forward at a fast pace presenting quite a lot of twists and has a nice gradation with a bit of foreshadowing in the beginning. After rewatching it for sixth time I noticed some holes within the plot, but they are not that major to cause any dissapointment.

Horror elements are great. The zombies are repulsive and the whole transformation is uneasy to watch. The scenes of zombie attacks, however, are not too gory, which could have been pushed on a bit more probably.

In my opinion though, any fan of zombie subgenre will love this film.

What I personally like the most that we get this cool guy beating up zombies one after another, but he is not the lead character. The lead character is more of an ordinary person, even though he is from upper class, which makes the film more interesting and relatable to some extent I would say. Furthermore, we have this selfish annoying man that serves as the complete oposite and he is portrayed so authentic that you just hate him and want to punch him in his face. This variety of characters makes the film good, because it covers what it really would be like and also is within our society.
